In Vitro Permeation Characteristics of Itraconazole from Oil Drops and Ophthalmic Ointment Through Excised Goat And Sheep Corneas

چکیده
In vitro transcorneal permeation of itraconazole from oil drops and ophthalmic ointments was studied using freshly excised goat and sheep corneas. Permeation of itraconazole from castor oil was found maximum and minimum with kardi oil formulation. The higher permeation of itraconazole from castor oil formulation could be attributed to the lower partition coefficient of drug between oil and aqueous phase. The addition of benzyl alcohol, a preservative, in oil drops, increased the permeation of itraconazole. Partition experiments indicated increased partitioning of itraconazole in the aqueous phase in the presence of benzyl alcohol. The addition of phenyl mercuric acetate, phenyl mercuric nitrate and thiomersal as preservative, in castor oil drop decreased the permeation of itraconazole. Corneal hydration was within the desired limit below 80 %. Permeation of itraconazole from ointment containing dissolved drug was higher than the ointment containing solid drug. In antifungal study, the castor oil formulation showed maximum zone of inhibition against Candida albicans. Stability study conducted at 40 C and 70% RH indicated the formulations as quite stable to ensure 2 years shelf life.

Effect of In Vitro Transcorneal Approach of Aceclofenac Eye Drops through Excised Goat, Sheep, and Buffalo Corneas
The current study involves the evaluation of factors that influence the transcorneal permeation of aqueous drops of aceclofenac ophthalmic formulation through freshly excised goat, sheep, and buffalo corneas. Aceclofenac formulation with different concentrations 0.1-0.5% (w/v) and with different pH and different preservatives, was taken into account. The amount of drug permeated from different ...

In vitro transcorneal permeation of diclofenac from oil drops was studied using freshly excised goat cornea. The maximum apparent corneal permeability coefficient (Papp) was obtained with 0.2% (w/v) diclofenac drops in sesame oil followed by safflower oil, while formulation in castor oil provided minimal Papp. The addition of benzyl alcohol, a preservative, in oil drops, increased the Papp valu...

The effect of formulation factors on permeation of diclofenac from some experimental and marketed aqueous eye drops through excised goat cornea was evaluated. Raising the pH of formulation from 6.0 to 8.0 or diclofenac concentration from 0.05 to 0.15% (w/v) or adjusting tonicity with mannitol or addition of viscolizing agent decreased apparent permeability coefficient (Papp). Formulation (pH 7....

Abstract: Minoxidil, a pyrimidine derivative (2, 4-diamino-6-piperidinopyrimidine-3-oxide) is the only topical medical treatment with proven efficacy for the treatment of Androgenetic alopecia that shown low skin penetration and bioavailability. The main aim of this research was to investigate the effect of some permeation enhancers on the in vitro skin permeability of minoxidil . Minoxid...
متن کاملDevelopment and Evaluation of Microemulsions for Transdermal Delivery of Insulin
Insulin-loaded microemulsions for transdermal delivery were developed using isopropyl myristate or oleic acid as the oil phase, Tween 80 as the surfactant, and isopropyl alcohol as the cosurfactant. The pseudoternary phase diagrams were constructed to determine the composition of microemulsions. The insulin permeation flux of microemulsions containing oleic acid as oil phase through excised mou...
